Football at St Pauls
“Football you say?!”
Yes football, often dubbed ‘the beautiful game’. John Brassey and Paul Wragg have organised a church football team. We’ve been meeting regularly every Monday at the Power League on Forest Road. We’ve been getting a regular group of about 11-14 players and play roughly 5-a-side. We are showing some improvements, working better as a team, and pushing ourselves more.
In the summer we plan to run more training based time, and maybe integrate other sports to increase fitness and endurance. And of course work on ball control and other such skills.
We need to get experience, as the majority of our team is under 25, and haven’t played in a team or in a league. The most I’ve ever played football is for social recreation down the park.
John has been in contact with other churches trying to find out how to get into the church league, which is 11-aside.
We need more players, so as to have a healthy supply of subs. And three of our regulars are leaving for university in September/October and may not be able to continue. So that means YOU! If you’re interested talk to John or Paul, or email John: John.Brassey@KPMG.co.uk
