New Carpet for the Church We were delighted with the new carpet in the church and agreed to investigate the possibility of using the old blue carpet for the chapel. SatNav Sarah gave a report on the development of SatNav and the proposal of starting again on 22nd April. The band and everyone involved have been brilliant and we want to continue to support it. We are making a grant application to Jack Petchey to purchase some new equipment. Annual Parochial Church Meeting This will be on April 2nd. According to the new rules for churchwardens Jill should step down in 2007 but we are allowed to extend her period of office by passing a resolution at the Annual Meeting. We should do this now so that Jill can continue as churchwarden as no other candidates have expressed an interest in taking on this role if Jill had to stand down. The proposed resolution is as follows: The rule in Churchwarden’s Measure 2001 limiting years of service to six will not apply in the parish of St. Paul’s Hainault for the next three years. We would like to find someone who can be elected as deputy churchwarden but not be expected to take over as churchwarden unless they want to in the long run. Chris asked for everyone on the present PCC to pray about standing again as no one this year is barred by the five year rule. Children and Holy Communion There are eight children who have expressed an interest in being prepared for Holy Communion. Finance So far this year we have been able to cover the family purse payments. The financial situation is very tight but in faith we made decisions to help with some special needs that were brought to our attention – for example a subsidy for the RockSolid trip to Stubbers in the summer. We have been asked to make a contribution of £100 to the Walk Roding Mission in October which will be a joint project with Churches Together in Hainault and Chigwell. Holiday Club We
looked into the possibility of running the 5-11 group and the 11-16 group on
different weeks of the summer holiday.
The advantage would be that children from one group wouldn’t get
distracted by the other group. The disadvantage is that one group would have to wait till
the second week of the school holiday and we don’t know what impact this
would have, especially on the leaders. We agreed to make a decision at the
next meeting.
