WHAT HAPPENED AT THE PCC

28th March, 2006

Bible surrounded by chairs

This was the last PCC before the Annual Parochial Church Meeting and we had a special guest – Dennis Rayner from St. Winifred’s Church.

Dennis came to speak to us about the Walk Roding Mission, which will be in our area from 7th – 15th October.  All the local churches will be involved and the 10 walkers will be sleeping in Hainault Evangelical Church.  We will take our turn to feed them and be able to invite them to our homes in the evening.  During the day they will visit anywhere we can think of where people gather.  The schools, Busy Bees, Wheels & Squeals, Kielder Close, Link Place are places that immediately spring to mind.

We undertook to pray for the mission and support it in any way we can.

The Church building

We have asked Barnes the carpet firm who did the new church carpet and Bob Duke to give us a quote for laying the old blue carpet in the chapel.  Steve James will remove the communion rails and replace them once the carpet is down.  So far we have been given £30 towards the cost.

We are waiting for Anthony Thowney to give us a quote for the electrical work that needs doing before we can get the certificate.  We will replace the spotlights in the chancel when we find a suitable type of light fitting as the old tracking system is no longer available.

Plans for the Summer

We agreed to have the Summer Fayre/Family Fun Day on June 10th and asked Sandra Woodard and Ray Wright to coordinate it.  Any money raised will be used to purchase a new photocopier.

Highlanders Holiday Club will be in the first week of the summer holiday and the Holiday Club for the younger ones will be either second week or the last week.  Ellen Hunt will decide.wine, bread and grapes

Jill will register St. Paul’s Church as a Fairtraide Church.  We have had a policy of only using Fairtraide tea and coffee for refreshments for about three years.

Children and Communion

Seven children aged between 8 and 10 are being prepared for Holy Communion.  They will receive their first Communion on 21st May, 2006.Vicar's signature
